Let’s talk about shoes! One of my favorite subjects. This summer has a lot of cool footwear trends. It also has a few where I have to ask, “What were they thinking?”

I’m here to give you the rundown of the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly. Read this post for a guide on the cute shoes of 2020.

Sporty Slides

Slides are in this summer, yet again. I haven’t been one to jump quickly onto the slides train. Why? Well, because they are ugly shoes. That’s why.

But maybe this year I will take another look at slides. They have quickly become a trendy summer shoe style for 2020. Lately, celebrities have been wearing slides quite frequently and some of them do look, well kind of sporty in a cute way. So here are a few of my favorite celebs who wear these shoes well.

Furry Slides

So here is the part where I feel like a hypocrite. (Please tell me if you think I am in the comments). But if you take that same sporty looking slide and add faux-fur to the top it suddenly doesn’t look as bad. Am I right?

I will admit they do look a bit like house slippers. Maybe I am just partial to the faux-fur look but I can see myself wearing these with a cute pair of shorts or jeans. This may just be my favorite trendy summer shoes. (I know, totally a hypocrite)

Heeled Loafers

Heeled loafers are a trend I am very excited about. They were all over the runways this spring and everyone is wearing them from Kate Middleton to Jennifer Aniston. I like the way heeled loafers look worn with jeans. They elevate the outfit and make you look more put together.

This is an easy look to pull off. Loafers can be worn throughout the summer. When it gets cold I’ll be pairing mine with some tights and continuing to wear them into the next season. Just make sure you get them in a color that transitions well.

Tying Sandals Over Pants

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of celebrities (mainly models) wearing sandals that tie such as espadrilles or just strappy heel and they are trying them over the legs of their pants. I have to say, I don’t hate it. It’s kinda trendy.

I love tie sandals. This is a look I will be trying this out over the summer. It seems simple enough and it is a different look that is easy to accomplish. Let me know what you think. This is another trend of summer but it probably won’t be here for too long.

Chonky Platforms

I have to tell you, I am a little biased when it comes to chunky platforms shoes. I was a 90’s kid and I still LOVE a good chunky platform. We are in luck this season because there are so many good ones to choose from!

Just because it is a 90’s shoe doesn’t mean it can’t be modernized or worn differently. Runways and celebrities have put their twist on this style.

Quilted Shoes

Quilted footwear has quickly become a new fashion trend. We first spotted this look at Bottega Veneta’s spring/summer runway. Within no time they were already on the streets. The look appeared first on mules but now has filtered its way down to several different styles of footwear. The puffy, quilted texture is very unique and it’s a cute shoe of 2020 in our book.

Celebrities and models are already been stepping out in style with this look. This highly coveted and padded pair of pumps will set you back a pretty penny if you want to get the Bottega Veneta originals. Thank goodness many other designers are featuring a very similar look in their lines as well.

Asymmetrical Straps

Designers had fun with shoes featuring asymmetrical straps for summer 2020. These funky shoes come in a variety of styles and colors and are very flattering on the foot. The trend is to have the straps diagonally cross over your foot. Some designers featured wide straps while others were much thinner.

This is a look I will be wearing this summer because I already own a pair or two of heels with straps like this. Check your closet. You might have a pair as well.
