Kim Kardashian West is Now Selling SKIMS Face Masks

Kim Kardashian West launched a new brand of face masks. The masks were released under her SKIMS underwear brand. The SKIMS face masks are seamless, breathable, reusable, and stretchy just like her line of undergarments. 

Launched Saturday, the SKIMS face masks come in five different shades: Clay, Sand, Cocoa, Sienna, Sand, and Onyx. You can purchase a mask for just $8.

The Collection Sold Out

On Saturday just hours after the line launched Kim went on Twitter to announce the collection had sold out and promised to produce more as soon as possible. 

“Unfortunately our @SKIMS face masks have sold today but we are working with out local partner in LA to produce more as quickly as possible,” she told her 64 million followers.

The Skims brand was founded by Kim last year. It is donating 10,000 masks to nonprofits such as Good+Foundation, Baby2Baby, and LA Food Bank. 

The company will also be working with those affected by COVID-19 by providing basic essential items to at-risk families with a $1 million donation to be distributed across the charities.

Controversy over the SKIMS Face Masks

Unfortunately, her charitable efforts have been undermined by her tweet that said the masks were available in five nude colors. Enraged people took to Twitter to remind Kim that black was not a nude color for a dark-skinned person. Kim may have misspoken but many people feel that as a designer of undergarments she should have known better. 

Other people point out the fact that Kim is using the pandemic to promote her brand and profit from the pandemic is just plain wrong. 

This is not Kim’s first drama for her Skims brand. Previously the brand came under fire for promoting an item as a “kimono”. Kim later apologized and changed the name.
