The more time that passes as we shelter in place the more tempting it can be to want to give yourself a haircut. The singer Miley Cyrus isn’t new to cutting her hair. She recently gave herself bangs.
Now she is back at it again with an entirely new look courtesy of her mom. Miley’s hairstylist, Sally Hershberger, coached her mom, Tish Cyrus, virtually on how to cut her now-signature style the pixie mullet. You can watch the video on Vogue’s page if you’re interested in replicating the look.
The final look is a bit shorter and something of a blend between a modern mullet and a pixie cut. The Miley Cyrus haircut is dubbed the pixie mullet.
The Story Behind the New Haircut
“Miley’s mom, Tish, played a huge part in this transformation as well,” says Hershberger via email. “I love working with Tish – she has a really good eye for detail. I was glad she was there to help Miley with this cut.”
This new look may have been a pivot at the last minute. It seems as if Miley had envisioned a different style before the call.
“Miley sent me over a picture for inspiration, but this pixie mullet is completely different than the original inspiration photo,” adds the hairstylist. “That’s why I love working with Miley — she’s a creative. We work really well together to bring visions to life.”
Miley Trusts Her Mom
Whether she is trapped at home or not it seems like Miley trusts her mom to cut her hair. She received a trim from her mom last November before the Coronavirus pandemic in the United States. This extra time has only given Trish more hours to practice her new skill on a high-profile client.
